About the Center

Our Mission

The mission of the Center for Molecular Neurobiology is to perform quality basic research and provide superior training in Developmental, Cellular, and Molecular Neuroscience. Research strengths develop from the use of three prominent molecular genetic model systems (mice, zebrafish, and Drosophila) and include research directly applicable to human disease. Ours is an intercollegiate program whose faculty have joint appointments in the Center as well as in departments in the Colleges of Biological Sciences, Medicine, and Pharmacy. Thus, our faculty and students have opportunities to form bridges between the Center and different departments within separate colleges. This arrangement enriches the research environment and helps define the uniqueness and identity of the Center.
