The Ohio State University Center for Molecular Neurobiology and Department of Neurological Surgery welcomes our new Assistant Professor, Mariano Viapiano. Dr. Viapiano is currently a postdoctoral fellow of the American Brain Tumor Association in the Department of Neurobiology at Yale University School of Medicine. His research centers on providing a molecular and cellular basis to understand the functional role of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in the central nervous system. His interests are focused on the developmental organization of the neural ECM and the elucidation and targeting of the mechanisms by which brain tumors modify this matrix to invade the neural tissue. Dr. Viapiano will begin his position in August.
